If you had 30 seconds to win over a dream client, would you know exactly what to say?
Crystallizing your message and delivering it with impact in just 30 seconds can help you land your dream client or spark the interest of the potential investor standing in front of you. It's no wonder many feel the pressure to not only communicate their potential value clearly and succinctly, but also come across as a great person to do business with – leaving many finding delivering their elevator pitch so daunting.
Here are some tips to for designing the ideal Elevator Pitch so the next time you are asked
‘What do you do?’, you can answer with confidence and clarity for optimal wow!
Start with a Hook
Grab attention with a simple but intriguing opener. Instead of saying, “I’m fitness coach,” try: “I help you feel better and live life with more energy and confidence through effective and targeted fitness programmes.” This instantly tells people what you do and why it’s valuable.
Identify the Problem You Solve
Once you’ve grabbed attention, the next step is making it relevant to your audience.. Connecting with potential clients, especially in such a short space of time is all about speaking the language that resonates with your audience – saying something that will make them say "That could be interesting!" and leave them wanting to hear more
Highlight the key challenge your audience faces and how you can help them. For example, "Many people struggle to stick to a fitness regime, giving up after a short time. I create bespoke fitness plans designed to achieve results around their schedule, however busy."
Show the Transformation
Explain the outcome of working with you – what results can your audience expect to see. So instead of just listing services, focus on how their life will be transformed. Instead of “I run fitness classes and weight loss management programmes’", say "I help my clients feel better and fitter than they thought possible, giving them the confidence to live their best life."
End with a Conversation Starter
Finish with a question that invites engagement such as “Isn’t it time we all prioritised our health and fitness?” to keep the conversation going.
A powerful elevator pitch combines clarity, confidence, and connection. Remember to keep it short, practice it often, and adapt it for different situations. The next time someone asks, "What do you do?", the words will flow effortlessly leaving you to create the best possible impression.
